Uncovering the Momentis Scam-Can this be true?
Uncovering the Momentis Scam
Momentis is the marketing arm and subsidiary of Just Energy Income Fund, a publicly held energy provider servicing both the United States and Canada. Formerly known as Energy Savings Income Fund and U.S. Energy Savings, Just Energy has been providing energy-related services in various forms and different long-term options for almost fourteen years. Their main services include the provision of natural gas and electricity to customers from the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors under a “fixed-price” rate on long-term agreements. Despite what seems to be solid reputation, Just Energy’s Momentis has been accused of what has come to be known as the Momentis scam.
Momentis scam – A Brief History
But is there really a Momentis scam? To answer this question, one has to first know how Momentis works. Momentis was started by Just Energy back in July of 2010 as an innovation in selling gas and electricity products to consumers. Their target market is the residential consumer whom they offer a form of home-based business and promise, as mentioned earlier, a fixed-rate price on their products as protection against fluctuating gas and electricity prices. Some have argued though that the rarity of price fluctuations in the gas and electricity industry makes this an empty promise, further fueling the idea of Momentis scam.
Momentis uses multilevel marketing and offers five ways to earn for their Momentis representatives: Momentum Bonus, MyTeam Bonus, MyLeadership Bonus, Mentor Bonus, and the Monthly Recurring Income. Momentis also boasts being a multibillion-dollar company, unlimited growth potential, outstanding customer support, an experienced group of executives running the business, among others. All these sound promising, and do not give the picture of a Momentis scam. Everyone eventually earns money at the start. But the issue of “Momentis scam” has heightened with the increasing number of complaints it has received. A number of YouTube videos have even popped up showing consumers who were allegedly tricked by the Momentis scam. Complaints usually involve business practices like customer confusion, overly persistent door-to-door sales representatives, and inadequate explanation of contracts.
Momentis scam- Is It Really True
Considering that the mother company, Just Energy, is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau (they have, however, been given an “A–” rating), people perhaps could not help but be wary of getting involved with its subsidiary. Although BBB accreditation is not required, this may be one of the reasons why the idea of a Momentis scam persists. But it is important to remember that like any other business one wants to enter, risks abound. So it is important to know all the pros and cons of joining before investing in it, may it be Momentis or not.
